MORT’s Meanderings

Pride in one of our own

This is being written on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00PM while watching C-Span as ‘Our Man in Washington, D.C’., Congressman Allen B. West, representing Florida’s District 22, takes his turn as Chairman of the House of Representatives. The business at hand is ‘The 2013 Transportation & HUD Spending bill’.

With gavel at the ready, Congressman West is totally at ease in the role. He has things moving along smoothly and under control as he identifies speakers and in turn, informs them of the time they will be allotted to make their presentations to the other Members present in the Chamber.

Congressman West is looking quite sharp in his conservatively cut Navy blue suit, complimented with a Skipper blue shirt, set off by a flag red necktie with thin white diagonal stripes. Adorning the left lapel of his suit jacket, are three insignias. They are, a round medallion that is the official emblem of the House of Representatives and two pairs of paratrooper’s wings. Together, they attest to the significant military and civilian accomplishments of this man in whom we take such pride.

Pride in one of our own – the ‘steadfast and loyal’ Congressman - - our Congressman, Allen B. West. What joy it brings to see him doing his thing, for all the world to see.
