‘Gun control’ won’t save lives

Joe,

Congratulations on your appointment to lead a presidential commission to end gun-related violence.

As a National Rifle Association board member, husband, father, grandfather, law enforcement officer and genuinely concerned American, I too want nothing more than to see evil, senseless massacres stopped. I concur with the president and caring people everywhere: It’s time to end these slaughters.

As you gather your team to study massacres and how to stop them, I offer to you my services and a lifetime of expertise on guns in all their implementations. While I strongly differ with President Obama on many issues, I agree with him that we must work with all we can possibly muster to end these tragedies.

As you begin to formulate your thoughts on how to proceed with your task, I hope your starting point is to provide the president with the facts regarding these slaughters and to offer him common-sense recommendations that are void of a political agenda and will actually make a meaningful difference. If the American people smell a political agenda here, that will only bog down our efforts.

In the spirit of goodwill and a deep desire to end gut-wrenching, incredibly sad and senseless rampages, I offer you the following recommendations:

I encourage you to persuade the president to lead this effort by providing a number of public service announcements. The announcements should include watching out for each other, encouraging parents to be more involved in their children’s lives regarding entertainment choices, and knowing various indicators we should watch for in people who are unstable.

Clearly, the focus on solving these mass murders must be on the mentally ill. In almost every instance of mass killing, there were ample red flags and warning alarms that either were avoided or were not acted upon by mental health professionals, family members, friends and acquaintances. While I deeply respect an individual’s privacy and civil liberties, the American people need basic awareness of what indicators to look for regarding potentially violent, psychotic people. Our collective safety begins with being collectively vigilant.

You will find in your assessment that all of the massacres have occurred in gun-free zones. What gun-free zones create is an environment where good people are unarmed and virtually defenseless against an unstable person intent on committing mass murder. Gun-free zones are modern killing fields. I implore you to recommend that Congress pass a law to ban gun-free zones immediately.

Just like your full-time, armed security detail, qualified citizens with authorized, legal concealed-carry permits should be able to carry weapons virtually everywhere to protect themselves, their loved ones and innocents.

I also implore you to strongly consider recommending that trained school officials have access to weapons to protect students. Just as airline pilots may have access to a weapon to prevent another Sept. 11 mass murder, school officials also should be trained to stop shooting sprees at our schools.

I don’t encourage you to recommend a ban on any weapon, magazine capacity or type of ammunition. That won’t accomplish anything other than prevent the 99.9 percent of responsible, law-abiding Americans from enjoying these modern weapons as we do now. We should never recommend or develop public policy that restricts the rights of the good guys based upon what evil people do or might do. If that were the case, alcohol still would be banned. As you may know, drunk drivers kill an estimated 12,000 Americans each year and hurt tens of thousands more.

I encourage you also to keep this misnamed “gun violence” in perspective. While all deaths are tragic, the vast majority of gun-related murders and violence are committed by gang members who do not use guns that look like — but do not perform like — military assault weapons. The majority of crimes that involve a firearm are committed with handguns. I concurred with you back in 2008 when you stated, “If [Mr. Obama] tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem.” I trust you still maintain those sentiments.

Again, I offer you my services and a lifetime of expertise. I look forward to hearing from you.

General Motors

President Obama continually talks about how the government’s investment in bailing our General Motors saved the taxpayers money and helped protect jobs. Well, today’s issue of Investors Business Daily paints a far different picture.

As you may recall, the GM bailout costs taxpayers $25 billion. In return the UAW and government became the largest shareholders in GM. The Government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM stock. Yesterday the closing price of GM stock was $20.21. To break even on it’s investment the stock would have to rise to $53 a share. Only the bungler in chief would call this a victory for taxpayers.

On the jobs front the bailout tells even a worse story. First, as a result of the GM restructuring many dealers lost their dealerships. The decision as to what dealers would lose their dealership was not based on who did the best job or was the most profitable. Rather, the decision was based on gender and race: female and minority dealerships were allowed to remain open no matter how poorly they performed. In 2008 GM employed 252,000 workers. Now that figure is 207,000 – with 131,000 working in foreign plants.

GM joins the ranks of Solyndra and other alternative energy companies as horrible investments. If Obama were a financial consultant and put his clients’ money in such investments he would be sued for negligence and incompetence. Instead, the bungler in chief is asking for another four years in office.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Hide" to "Run." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.

And as a final thought - Greece is collapsing, the Iranians are getting aggressive, and Rome is in disarray. Welcome back to 430 BC.

Conservative Group Says It’s Time for Governor to Take “Principled Stand” Against Government Health Care Takeover

BOGOTA, NJ – Americans for Prosperity, the state’s leading free-market, grassroots organization, is calling on Gov. Chris Christie to veto legislation that would establish Obamacare’s so-called health care exchanges in the state.

The legislation aimed at complying with the unconstitutional federal health care takeover, the “New Jersey Health Benefit Exchange Act”, passed the state Legislature in mid-March and awaits action by the governor within the next several weeks well before the much-anticipated Supreme Court decision expected by the end of June.

Mike Proto, communications director for Americans for Prosperity’s New Jersey chapter said, “Our organization respects much of the work the governor has done to try to turn New Jersey around and has stood with him on numerous issues, but on the issue of the government takeover of our health care he has disappointed.”

“The governor’s administration has already accepted federal funds for the exchange and for Obamacare’s high risk pools. The administration also failed to join the multi-state constitutional legal challenge now pending before the Supreme Court,” continued Proto. “The time has come for the governor to take a principled stand against Obamacare and to protect the rights of every New Jersey citizen to make their own health care choices.”

“Furthermore, the governor has an obligation to protect our state’s sovereignty against this federal power grab. The state’s created the federal government, not the other way around. When the federal government exceeds its enumerated powers and infringes on state’s rights, the governor has an obligation to say ‘no’,” added Proto.

“The governor needs to act. By law, this cannot wait until the Supreme Court hands down its decision two months from now. The governor must veto this bill now and let the people of New Jersey know once and for all where he stands on Obamacare.”

As part of Americans for Prosperity’s effort, the group is urging its more than 64,000 citizen activists across the state to sign onto a petition letter to the governor urging him to veto the bill.

Americans for Prosperity has been at the forefront of opposing the government health care takeover since 2009. Most recently, the New Jersey chapter delivered over a 1,000 citizen activists to Washington, D.C. to rally against the government takeover as the Supreme Court heard oral argument on the historic multi-state legal challenge.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul , Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was
mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income
tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

As Institute for Energy Research Debunks Fatally Flawed Analysis Group “Study”, AFP Calls on State Legislature to Defeat RGGI Bill

BOGOTA, NJ – With a vote looming in the New Jersey Legislature on Thursday aimed at forcing New Jersey back into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, aka RGGI, Cap-and-Trade scheme, a report claiming that RGGI has been a boon to participating states has been thoroughly debunked by energy experts.

The study, released late last year by the Analysis Group, contends that the RGGI Cap-and-Trade scheme has turned $1.6 billion in tax revenue collected via sales of carbon allowances into a $1.6 billion in net economic benefits. Liberal politicians and environmentalists, desperate to keep the failing cap-and-trade program alive, along with the multi-billion slush fund it provides, have used the Analysis Group’s faulty and misleading report as the basis for convincing lawmakers to re-enter New Jersey into the program.

Today, the Analysis Group’s findings were publicly discredited by the Institute for Energy Research (IER), the research arm of the American Energy Alliance (AEA), after a meticulous review of the study’s results.

During a press call this afternoon, Dr. Robert Murphy, Senior Fellow and Economist for the Institute for Energy Research, highlighted the major defects of the Analysis Group report.

“The Analysis Group study is based on modeling and not fact,” said Murphy. “The alleged future savings are based on mapping what’s happening over time, over the long haul. The results are all completely hypothetical.”

“The Analysis Group report admits that electricity bills are higher,” noted Murphy. “This has nothing to do with climate change, per se. There is no claimed environmental benefit in the report.”

Murphy added that the Analysis Group’s claims of thousands of “green jobs” created are likewise false and based on a “hypothetical simulation” and “modeling” forecast with no basis in reality.

Dan Simmons, AEA’s Director of State and Regulatory Affairs, described the Analysis Group’s claim of $1.6 billion in “economic value added” as “highly implausible” and “absurd,” while noting that RGGI’s targeted emission reduction goals have already been met.

“The study contains nothing about what the point of RGGI is,” said Simmons. “There has been a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions [since RGGI began]. The goal of RGGI has been achieved three times over.”

“Yet, instead of declaring victory, they want to keep the program in place.” Subsequent to today’s call, Americans for Prosperity state director Steve Lonegan issued the following statement: “The Institute for Energy Research’s airtight critique of the phony and flawed Analysis Group study puts to bed once and for all the lie that the RGGI Cap-and-Trade tax, or any tax for that matter, grows jobs and creates wealth and prosperity -- and exposes just how far the liberal left and the radical environmentalist movement will go to bamboozle the public and policy makers to advance their extremist agenda.

“The RGGI Cap-and-Trade scheme has always been about one thing and one thing only: bilking taxpayers through their electricity bills in order to provide liberal politicians and radical environmentalists a slush fund to subsidize their failed ‘green energy’ schemes.

“Enough is enough. It’s time for Trenton lawmakers to start standing up for hard-working New Jersey families rather than saddling them with skyrocketing electricity rates to pay for their pet projects and to enrich the politically well-connected.

“The bill to force New Jersey back into RGGI needs to be defeated and legislators ought to get back to work at trying to improve, rather than further damage, New Jersey’s economy.”

This week, we scored a major victory in our ultimate goal of full repeal of Obamacare, as two key House Committees under pressure from conservatives in the House voted to repeal IPAB altogether.

IPAB is one of the worst parts (of many) that make up Obamacare. As one expert recently warned before the House Ways and Means Committee, IPAB “absolutely will” lead to rationing health care.

President Obama is doubling down on one of the most dangerous provisions in his 2010 health overhaul law. In his proposed budget, he plans to give even greater powers to the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a panel created by the new health law to contain Medicare spending.

The IPAB is one of the most egregious parts of ObamaCare because it puts rationing of care on auto pilot. A House subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), is expected to vote today on a bill that would repeal the IPAB entirely. The Ways and Means Committee also will vote, and then it will go to the full House of Representatives for a vote, likely next month. Thanks for coming to my defense in response to the stupid racist who called me a stupid racist.

What‘Weasel One’ fails to understand is that I am not against all black people or even people who pretend to be black. I am however, unalterably opposed to and committed to the political demise of Barack Hussein Obama. This Marxist - communist -radical Muslim-Islamo-fruitcake is the target of my aversion. He is doing irreparable damage to my beloved nation. And, I vehemently take exception to his every utterance and his every action.

I am opposed to Obama and all he stands for. I am opposed to every single person by whom he has been influenced – and opposed to every single person whom he has chosen to enable him and support him in his nefarious schemes against The Constitution of the United States and the personal freedoms that it guarantees. Obama and his entire retinue of traitors are my targets and shall continue to be, until they are all eliminated or neutralized, politically. If that makes me a racist, tough shit.

We are in a battle for the heart, soul and survival of my country. I am not about to hand it over to Obama and his Marxist/Progressive/Liberal lunacy for another four years of ruination to my nation.

Donald Trump Blast Rick Santorum For Wrong Reason

Donald Trump is telling America that Santorum is not fit to be President because he lost an election in 2006. Let me preface by saying some of my most favorite People in the World live in Pennsylvania. With that being said I do not think that the State of Pennsylvania has the authority to tell the Country who can or can't be President.

Does Trump know the “Bitter Clinger” truth? No, because Trump was not a real Conservative before 2008 and he was for Obama. Obama trashed the Pennsylvania people. Soetoro called them Bitter People and said they were clinging to their Guns and religion. All the while Obama was surrounded by ultra-Wealthy people in San Francisco who supported him. The majority of the People in Pennsylvania still supported Obama. So set aside the great Conservatives in Pennsylvania and you have some Politically Correct Sheeple. Real Conservatives knew before the election what Barry and his wannabe Queen Wife planning for America. Their plan was and is to transform and destroy the Middle Class ala Karl Marx.

I remember a MSM network at the beginning of the Soetoro Regime and the point was brought up about Barry's limited employment record (What employment record, the Marxist was part of ACORN). Someone then asked Trump if he would hire Obama. Trump would not say at first and then he turned yellow and said yes. What the heck Trump! Many of us knew Soetoro was incompetent and out to destroy White America. Yet Trump folded like a cheap puff daddy suit.

I will give Trump credit that he finally smelled the espresso and realized how bad a President and Person that Barry is. However Trump's reasoning not to elect someone who lost a State Election when the MAJORITY (not all) of those People were proven to be Politically Correct Sheep is ridiculous. I am not pitting Romney against Santorum however Romney lost a national election. So using Trump's methodology Romney should go into another business. I would not use that methodology as one of the greatest Ronald Reagan lost a few elections before winning.

One more point is that I would listen to a Real Conservative, Michelle Malkin, before I listen to Trump on the Politics Subject. The smart and beautiful Michelle Malkin has endorsed Rick Santorum. The Great One, Mark Levin has stated that if the election were held today that he vote for Rick Santorum. This post is not to tell anyone to vote Sanatorium over Newt or Mitt. This post is to explain that Sanatorium should not be judged by a group that is mainly made up of self-loathing Politically Correct White People. How else can you explain people supporting Barry, they must be self-loathing or Marxists.

I have stood up for Trump after he realized Soetoro was wrong for America. Many of us heard trump being called a Racist for is legitimate questioning of Barry Hussein Obama's birthplace. Hussein's own Grandmother and wannabe Queen Wife stated that Kenya was Barry's birthplace. I won't say that Trump's attack on Santorum is racist yet we know many of Trump's buddies are not too keen on a having a President with the Italian heritage. We will not delve into that today as I feel Trump is just wrong on his reasoning in this case.

Donald Trump should just stay in the Business World and admit Mitt Romney; Newt Gingrich OR Rick Santorum would be a much better President than the current Regime Leader. Let us sum it by saying Stop Political Correctness and Stop Marxism!

After watching Pres. Obama give his "State of the Union" speech, the phrase "cognitive dissonance" came to mind. Succinctly, that is when someone knows something that is true, but believes (or tells you that he believes) something else. Can you imagine that Pres. Obama had the nerve to say that we are better off today than we were just 3 short years ago? Doesn't he watch the news? Most everything that should be up, is down, and most everything that should be down is up.

We have approx. 14 million unemployed, the real unemployment rate is 14%; gas prices have gone up to $3.50 per gallon from $1.85 when he took office; the federal debt is now over $15 trillion when it was $9.8 trillion when he was sworn in; the "Misery Index" was 7.8 in Jan. 2009 and it is now 11.9; in 2009, we had 32 million people on food stamps, now it is 46 million; and we have approx. 48 million families at or below the poverty line. If that isn't "cognitive dissonance", than the Pope isn't Catholic. Should that kind of pitiful performance deserve 4 more years? I think not.
